Sky Drift (XBLA) Review by JW
OK, first of all I went into this game with one strike. My friends were playing the Battlefield 3 beta, and that’s where I wanted to be also. After the demo had downloaded I fired it up and was promptly given an update download page (wait this isn’t the PS3, what the heck!?!?!). Strike two. After downloading the patch, I choose the the single player option. After going through screens showing me which buttons control what, the race began in a beach/island setting (reminded me a lot of the Sims Flying game) There are power up to collect which gives this game a little Mario Kart feel, but I would say comparing the power ups, it plays more like Blur (with out the destructing environments). The controls of the game I thought were pretty solid, using the left analog stick to pilot the plane with the right analog stick for more procession turns. I thought that the overall pace of the racing was a little sluggish, I mean they are planes, and planes go FAST! I had a good time with the game, but not an amazing time. I see this being fun as a couch multiplayer game, maybe some fun with online friends too.
